Edward Joseph Decker was born on October 11, 1952 in Dickinson, the son of Titius and Marian (Stockert) Decker. He was raised and educated in the Belfield area where he attended various country schools and graduated from Belfield High School. He grew up helping on the farm and milking cows by hand. He had the ability to repair any and all farm equipment, butchering and beef processing on the family farm.

Edward was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Marx on July 11, 1975 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield.

He had worked for a short time for Brinster Dirt Construction and in the oil field on the drilling rigs. He also worked for Kessel Implement in Belfield, owned and operated the Belfield Theater, and was a mechanic for Decker Implement and Agri-Power in Dickinson for many years. Ed started his own electrical and mechanical repair business, Saego Electric, in the year 1988. He specialized in electric repairs and did a lot of agricultural repair such as air conditioner, square balers and combines which kept him out late many nights. He also had worked for Richardton Manufacturing making dump wagons, and he owned and operated Decker Gun.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Belfield Sportsmans Club, served as an EMT with the Belfield Ambulance, Dickinson Trap Club and Belfield Fire Department. He truly enjoyed ushering at St. Wenceslaus Church for many years.

He enjoyed anything mechanical, with guns, hunting, and was very instrumental in developing the Belfield Sportsmans Club Range. Ed was a master of do-it-yourself projects, enjoyed attending PBR, watching NASCAR, Indy Car Racing, riding motorcycles, and was very devoted to his church. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his wife, Patricia; his mother, Marian Decker; children, Michelle (Brad Broome) Decker, Dickinson, Angie Decker, Dickinson, Janice (Brian) Ackerson, Lansing, MI, and Micheal Decker, Dickinson; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger (Rosie) Decker, Belfield, Carmelita Dukart, Dickinson, and Donald Decker, Belfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended Marx family. He was preceded in death by father, Titius Decker; brother, Ronald Decker; in-laws, Leonard and Theresa Marx; sisters-in-law, Janice Marx and Mary Marx; and brother-in-law, Dennis Marx.
