Edward M. Prendiville, 82, formerly of the Ralph, S.D. area, died Thursday, October 8, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Edward’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2009 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Ralph, S.D., with Bishop Blase Cupich as the celebrant and Rev. John Heying, Rev. Dan Juelfs and the Priests of the Diocese of Rapid City, S.D. as concelebrants. Interment will follow at St. Eulalia Cemetery, Ralph. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary & vigil at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Edward Michael Prendiville was born December 22, 1926 on the home place in Harding County near Ralph, S.D., the son of Daniel and Johanna (Wagner) Prendiville. He was raised and educated in the Ralph area and had attended high school in Rapid City and graduating from Lemmon High School in Lemmon, S.D. He went on to attend the School of Mines at Rapid City.

Edward married Corinne Oase on September 14, 1955 at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Ralph. They farmed and ranched in the Ralph area and in 1999 Edward moved to Subiaco Manor in Dickinson. He then became a resident of St. Benedict’s Health Center in 2004.

Edward had served for over 20 years on the school board, and had also served as part of the Harding County Weed Control Board. He enjoyed gardening, was a faithful Twins and Vikings fan, enjoyed cooking for and hosting gatherings, and playing pinochle.

Edward is survived by his five children, Kirby Prendiville, Bothell, Wash., Rev. Kerry Prendiville, Lead-Deadwood, S.D., Teresa (Ike) Hecker, Fairfield, Kelly Prendiville, Dickinson, and Shawn (Malinda) Prendiville, Walla Walla, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Corin Prendiville, Danielle Prendiville, Matt Brill, Sean Lockhart, Evan Lockhart, Daniel Prendiville and Leslie Prendiville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne on June 10, 1989; his parents; and four sisters, Margaret Zeller-Feist, Patricia Nash, Bessie Mort and Eileen Hanson.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.
