Edward V. Kudrna, 100, Dickinson, died Monday, April 13, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Edward’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Shannon Lucht as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Heart. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 3 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Edward V. Kudrna was born January 31, 1915 at Dickinson, the son of Frank and Philomena (Pavlicek) Kudrna. He was raised and educated near South Heart.

Edward was united in marriage to Julia Ridl on May 25, 1936 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. They farmed together near South Heart from 1936 to 1971, they moved into South Heart in 1949. He had driven school bus for the South Heart School District for 35 years. He also served as the South Heart Township Supervisor for 4 years. Ed stayed busy working as the custodian for the South Heart Hall for 15 years, worked construction on St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, the Dickinson Oil Refinery, and also on the east wing of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

He and Julia moved into Dickinson in 1978, where he worked for the TSC Store for 5 years. He belonged to the German/Hungarian, Eagles, and the St. Anthony Clubs of Dickinson. He moved to the Evergreen in December of 1999. He loved playing cards, camping, fishing, spending time with family, watching rodeos, and listening to old time music.

Ed is survived by two daughters, Jean (Ron) Wold, New England, and Judy (Willard) Dill, Regent; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; 10 siblings, Minnie Pirkl, Dickinson, Margaret Fendrick, Billings, Mont., Don (Millie) Kudrna, Dickinson, Dorothy Ficek, Dickinson, Eleanore Badinger, Spokane Valley, Wash., Raymond (Shirley) Kudrna, Overland Park, Kan., Wayne (Rosalie) Kudrna, Dickinson, Bob (Jeanette) Kudrna, Hettinger, Darlene (Bob) Betchner, Mandan, and Delores (Darrold) Raab, Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Mabel Kudrna and Josephine Kudrna; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia, on January 5, 1988; his parents; siblings and spouses, Mary (Fred) Kostelecky, Vince (Rose) Kudrna, Rose (Pete) Privratsky, Frank Kudrna, Adolph (Margaret) Kudrna, Laudie (Dorothy) Kudrna, Gilbert Kudrna, Ed Pirkl, Frank Fendrick, Andy Ficek, and Vern Badinger; and infant grandson, Allan Wold.
