Edward Wagner, 78, Dickinson, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Edward’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2008 at St. John Evan. Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Steven Tangen officiating. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan with Rev. Rebecca Aardahl, Pastor of Heart River Lutheran Church, Mandan officiating, and with military honors provided by the Veterans Drill Team. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Edward Wagner was born October 6, 1929, at Mandan the son of Roy and Sara (Brandenburg) Wagner. He was raised and educated in the Mandan area and at the age of 16, his parents died and he went to live with Gus and Della Belohlavek.
Edward served honorably in the United States Army. When he was discharged he returned to Mandan where he began a trucking career that lasted his entire life. He hauled livestock and other commodities throughout the country.
Edward married Linda Werner on June 6, 1955 in Center. They moved to Dickinson in 1960 where he continued his trucking business. Edward enjoyed fishing, camping and working in the garden. He belonged to the Eagle’s Club and the AmVets.
Edward is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Judi (Dave) Reynolds, Waukegan, Ill., Eddie (Billie) Wagner, Sumter, S.C., and Ronald (Pam) Wagner, Missoula, Mont.; one sister, Louise (Edwin) Vietz, Colorado; one brother, Allen Wagner, Moses Lake, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Clinton; three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Kenneth; and one sister, Caroline.
