Elaine “Eileen” (Meier) Lutz, 73, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer. Elaine’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Fr. Todd Kreitinger celebrating, interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time.

Elaine Meier was born June 5, 1937 at Zeeland to Joachim and Regina (Jangula) Meier. Elaine was raised on a farm in the Zeeland area along with her seven brothers and sisters. After completing her education at Zeeland, Elaine married Fred Lutz in 1956. Together they moved to Beach and later to Montana and in 1960 they moved to Carlton, Ore. Elaine returned to North Dakota in 1966 where she lived and worked in Bismarck before moving to Dickinson.

Elaine enjoyed spending as much time as she could outdoors and when the weather permitted she loved to go for walks.

Elaine is survived by five children; Diane (Mike) Satterlee, Beaverton, Ore., Dean Lutz, Moorhead, Minn., Ron Lutze, McMinnville, Ore., Brenda (Mitch Smith) Ibarra, White City, Ore., and Denise (Sean) Johnson, Willows, Calif.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Julius Meier, Oakes; four sisters, Julia Lipp, Bismarck, Helen (James) Germain, Spokane, Wash., Anna Vogel, Bismarck, and Janice Shaw, Bismarck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Marvin Lutz and two sisters, Adeline Wald and Dorothy Meier.
