Eleanor was born in Dickinson to Frank and Veronica (Nuss) Hutmacher on November 3, 1932.  She attended school in Fayette, ND ending formal education at 8th grade.  Eleanor loved learning and continued to learn new things through her lifetime.

Eleanor was united in marriage to John D. Urlacher on June 9, 1953 at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Fayette.  Following their marriage, John and Eleanor joined John’s parents on their farm north of New England. In 1975, John and Eleanor purchased the farm from John’s parents where she built a beautiful homelife for her family. Eleanor shared in the farmwork, raised a large garden, canned, sewed and whatever else needed to be done.  Growing and tending to beautiful flowers brought great joy to Eleanor and those who were lucky enough to share them with her.

Eleanor was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, St. Pius Verein, and St. Anthony Club.  She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England and was an active member of St. Mary’s Alter Guild, the Church and School.  Eleanor enjoyed participating in the New England Community Choir – even after retiring to Dickinson.  Eleanor enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing cards, traveling, and attending family events.  Eleanor was an amazing cook and baker.  She remembered the favorite food of each of her family members and would cook their favorite whenever they visited.
