Eleanore A. Richard, 86, formerly of Belfield, died Monday, August 5, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Eleanore’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. William Ruelle as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. A rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Eleanore Agnes Ficek was born on August 31, 1926 to James and Annie (Kostelecky) Ficek, and raised on the family farm north on the New Hradec hill. Eleanore attended eight years at Sts. Peter and Paul school in New Hradec. She worked at the Ray Hotel for $.50 an hour. She met Walter and married on November 12, 1946 at St. Wenceslaus Church, Dickinson. They raised their family of four sons and one daughter on the family farm south of Belfield.

Eleanore was an excellent cook and known for her kolache and pigs in the blanket, along with raising a lush garden over the years. She provided many meals for family and friends and threshing crews in the field. Eleanore was an excellent seamstress, making baby blankets and crocheted blankets for grandchildren. Eleanore and Walter enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, card playing, snowmobiling in the Black Hills, and many trips to their lake home at Mosset Bay. Eleanore was a member (past President) at St. Bernard’s Christian Mothers Organization.

Eleanore is survived by her children, Raymond (Rita) Richard, Belfield; Roger (Rose) Richard, Belfield; Dennis (Beth) Richard, Belfield; Dale Richard, Belfield; and Denise (Dean) Scheetz, Washburn; 15 grandchildren: Dawn (Brad) Fitzgerald, Marie Richard, Jeanine (Bryan) Clendenen, Becky (Jon-Erik) Holm-Johansen, Jason (Michelle) Richard, Ben (Jessica) Richard, Dusty (Christina) Richard, Megan Richard, Lyle (Karla) Richard, Brian (Samantha) Richard, Estelle Richard, Brandon Ruggles, Cameron, Holly, and Heidi Scheetz; 13 great-grandchildren: Jaden Cymbaluk, Hailey and Brett Fitzgerald, Maizie, Lane and Gabe Richard, Sawyer and Dawson Clendenen, Clay and Cole Richard, Jackson and Jones Richard, and Caleb Frantz; also her siblings, Robert Ficek, Pierz, Minn., Laudie (Margie) Ficek, Dickinson, Dorothy Dorval, Belfield, Agnes Ehli, Dumas, Texas, and Edwin (Judy) Ficek, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her parents, and one sister Lillian Hutzenbiler.
