Elizabeth “Betty” Baumann, 86, Dickinson, died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her home with family by her side. Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas Richter as celebrant. Entombment will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a rosary and vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Leonard Krebs presiding.
Elizabeth “Betty” Stein was born on August 2, 1934 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Peter and Anna (Britz) Stein. She was raised and educated in Chicago.
Betty married Joseph “Joe” Baumann on November 24, 1951 in Chicago. They moved to a farm northwest of New Hradec in 1955 and to this union three children were born, Mike, Bob and Linda. During this time, Betty and Joe worked hand-in-hand building a successful farming and machine shop operation. They retired in 1984 and moved to Dickinson in 2014.
Betty was a member of the Dickinson Family SnoRiders Snowmobile Club and Homemakers Club. She enjoyed preparing German meals and pastries, but really loved riding and racing snowmobiles, fishing, traveling and camping with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Mike (Cindy) Baumann, Dickinson, Bob (Jan) Baumann, Bismarck, and Linda (Kevin) Weiler, Dickinson; grandchildren, Krista (Erik) Sunderland, Emily (Pete) Cumings, Andrew (Alicia) Baumann, and Sarah (Coltyn) Nelson; step-grandson, John (Dani) Hoff; three great-grandchildren, Braeden Baumann, Fiona, and Ivy Cumings; three step-great-grandchildren, Josephine, John and Patricio Hoff; sister, Dolores O’Donnell, Schaumburg, Ill.; sister-in-law, Joan Stein, Bloomington, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe on December 24, 2015; her parents; father and mother-in-law; brother, Joseph Stein; brother-in-law, Frank O’Donnell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Queen of Peace Catholic Church or CHI Hospice Services.
