Elizabeth “Betty” Heidt, 85, Dickinson, ND, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2007 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Austin Vetter as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Elizabeth Kuntz was born November 2, 1922 in Dickinson, the daughter of Gregor and Monica (Reichert) Kuntz. She was raised and educated in the rural Dickinson area while helping her parents on the farm.

Betty married Harry Heidt on January 8, 1945. They lived in the Dickinson area for a short time and farmed for 15 years in the Fayette area. The Heidt family moved to Dickinson in the spring of 1961. She was remembered for her work at Eva’s Pizza Palace and Excel Cleaners for nearly 30 years.

Betty enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She especially enjoyed sewing and making quilts, and baking cookies for her grandkids. Betty was a member of the Coronary Support Group and the St. Pius Verein.

Betty is survived by her eight children, Jerry (Joan) Heidt, Moxee, WA, Shirley (Dave) Smith, Canyon Lake, TX, David (fianceé ~ Cindy) Heidt, Dickinson, Elaine (Earl) Novotny, Dickinson, Alvina (Ron) Herauf, Billings, MT, Jackie (special friend ~ Ron) Gregory, Mel Heidt, Dickinson, and Dennis (special friend ~ Teri Jo) Heidt, Billings, MT; grandchildren, Janelle Heidt, Rachelle (Kevin) Butschek, Troy (Claudia) Smith, Tina (Scott) Weiser, Nicole (Ryan) Berger, Dina (Kevin) Klein, Daisy (Jerold) Palaniuk, Melissa (Aaron) Stoltz, Tanaya Heidt and Austin Heidt; great-grandchildren, Brock Wanner, Brett, Dylan, Karli and Jasmine Northrop, Kolton and Kourtney Klein, Sierra Haag, Catalina Heidt, Brooklyn Berger and Weston Smith; sisters, Pauline Decker and Christine Frenzel; and her brothers, Leo (Betty) Kuntz, George Kuntz, Frank (Caroline) Kuntz, and Pete (Mary) Kuntz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry on March 31, 2001; her parents; step-father, Joseph Jaeger; daughter-in-law, Diana Heidt; son-in-law, Dwaine Stroh; great-grandson, Matthew Northrop; sister, Rose Schwindt; and her brothers, John and Jack Kuntz.
