Elizabeth “Betty” Schoenbeck, 91, Belfield, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson, with her family at her side. Betty’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2016 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Interment will take place at the Roundup Cemetery, Roundup, Mont. Visitation will be on Monday one hour prior to services.

Elizabeth Thompson was born October 20, 1924 at Alzada, Mont., the daughter of George and Opal (Crawford) Thompson. She attended grade school in Alzada, and graduated from Carter County High School in Ekalaka, Mont. in 1944. Following high school she worked in the rationing office. She then moved to Miles City, Mont., here she worked at the Log Cabin Café as a cashier.

Betty was united in marriage to Herman Schoenbeck in May 1947, at Baker, Mont. She lived in numerous places before moving to Roundup in 1974, here she and her husband had the Goulding Creek Mail Route for four years. Following the death of Herman on July 1, 1979, she moved to Belfield, and has lived there since.

Betty belonged to the Senior Citizens Club, and was confirmed and baptized at the Belfield Lutheran Church. She loved working in the garden, planting flowers, doing puzzles, and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, sister-in-law, Irene Buckman; step-dad, Willis Johnson; brother, Dick Thompson; sister, Fern White; and grandson, Brandon Meduna Schoenbeck.

Betty is survived by her seven children, Margaret (Dennis) Rost, New Castle, Wyo., Patricia (Alvin) Madler, Baker, Richard (Charlene) Schoenbeck, Belfield, John (Tammy) Schoenbeck, Broadus, Mont., Carol Schoenbeck, Belfield, Fred (Jackie) Schoenbeck, Park City, Mont., and George Schoenbeck, Billings, Mont.; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donation to either the cancer or heart foundations.
