Elliot A. Lindbo, 88, Beulah, formerly of Belfield, died Saturday, March 29, 2025 in Dickinson. Elliot’s Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Belfield Lutheran Church, Belfield, with Rev. Mike Pretzer officiating. Interment will follow at Belfield Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post 144. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Elliot Andrew Lindbo was born May 21, 1936 in Dickinson, the son of Andrew “Andy” M. and Helen P. (Gunkel) Lindbo. He attended and graduated from Belfield High School. During high school he helped his dad at the filling station, worked on area farms, and doing masonry work.
Elliot joined the United States Navy on July 30, 1954 and was honorably discharged on June 25, 1958. Following his discharge, a month long bike trip (on what may have been the first 10 speed bike) with fellow classmate Pat Hecker—they made it back to North Dakota.
He followed that with construction jobs of several types and experiences he used the rest of his working years. Some of the buildings he worked on were the Belfield Post Office, Belfield Lutheran Church, Trappers Kettle, Belfield Masons Building, just to name a few. He also had several on and off years at Lindbo Service Station on Main Street. In 1970, Elliot began working for Jim and Harold Hugelen. This employment grew into a lifelong friendship and had many fond memories and adventures. In 1986, Elliot began employment at Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. Here he worked with many wonderful people, made great memories and enjoyed the opportunity to work for them.
Elliot served on the Park Board when the swimming pool was constructed. As well as on Lutheran Church Council and taught hunter safety. He was the jack of all trades.
Elliot enjoyed archery, hunting for deer and pheasants, going fishing and camping. He was a member of Belfield Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens in Belfield. Elliot loved life and enjoyed the challenge of making, fixing, and repairing things.
Elliot married Helen Jassek June 11,1961 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Together they had four children, Dwight, Barry, Durand, and Joy. Helen passed away on January 12, 2016. Elliot was remarried on June 26, 2017 to an old family friend, Sodie Peabody and they had a happy loving relationship. Marlene “Sodie” passed away on October 17, 2024.
Elliot is survived by his children, Barry Lindbo, Durand Lindbo, and Joy Lindbo; step-children, Sarah (Denis) Tibor, Sharon Erhardt, Jay (Pam) Peabody, Penney (Dean) Emter, and Trisha Burghart; daughter-in-law, Rynette Lindbo; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen, Larae, and Rodney (Janet); and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stillborn son; his wives, Helen and Sodie; son, Dwight; parents; sister, Connie; and brothers-in-law, Steve Tschetter and Duane Davis.
