Elsie J. Malkowski, 77, Dickinson, died Monday, May 18, 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. Elsie’s Memorial Service with be 10 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2020 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Jerry Stravia IV officiating. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Elsie J. Arnell was born on June 15, 1942 in Bowman, the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Kron) Arnell. She was raised and educated in Rhame and graduated from Rhame High School in 1960. She went on to attend Dickinson State College from 1960-1961.

Elise was united in marriage to Raymond Malkowski on September 24, 1962 at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield. They made their home in Belfield where she worked a variety of jobs such as waitressing, bartending, cooking, flagger for road construction, and various bookkeeping jobs.

She enjoyed feeding and watching birds, taking care of strays, playing Aggravation, having coffee with friends, spending time with family, and checking out Facebook and computer games.

Elsie is survived by her children, Sheila (Bob) Hlibichuk, Dickinson, Sandra (Jim) Deichert, Dickinson, and Bryan (Jill) Malkowski, Thornton, Colo., four grandchildren, Joshua (Liz) Hlibichuk, Amanda Hlibichuk, Kelsey Deichert and Austin Deichert; four great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Vivienna and Micah Hlibichuk, and Jaxon Deichert; brother, Wendell Arnell, Costa Rica; sister-in-law, Ella Arnell, Baker, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, on June 20, 2013; her parents; grandson, Dustin Hlibichuk; and brother, Hilding Arnell.
