Emma Privratsky was born on January 25, 1925 in Dickinson to Adolph and Mary (Splichal) Privratsky. She was the tenth out of eleven children and grew up on the family farm. At high school age, she worked at the Prince hotel as a housekeeper. A woman who lived there talked her into going to beauty school, which she attended in Bismarck.

While Isadore Pavlicek’s parents and Emma’s parents were living near each other in Dickinson, Isadore heard music coming from Emma’s house. He went over there to see what was going on, meeting Emma for the first time. They were united in marriage on October 14th, 1953 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. Together they had four children, Curt, Lee, Nancy, and Dale. They lived on the Pavlicek family farm for 36 years. She enjoyed taking care of the many farm animals, gardening, and making kolaches, homemade noodles and bread! She often took a large homecooked meal out to Isadore and her sons in the field.

In 1989, they moved to Dickinson, where taking care of her yard and garden was her pride and joy. She loved to mow the grass, even into her early 90’s. As an active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, her faith was a priority in her life. She was always praying for her children, grandchildren, and perfect farming weather. Emma enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandkids.

Emma is survived by her children, Lee (Corrine), Dickinson, Curt (Terry), Nancy (Doug) Wendt and Dale (Lisa) all of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Chase (Ashley) Richards, Martinez, GA, Paige (Alden) Funk, Haleiwa, Hawaii, Cole Pavlicek, Scottsdale, AZ, Ashley (Brett) DeGagne, Tampa, FL, Parker Pavlicek, Seattle, WA, KarLee Pavlicek, Fargo, Carter Wendt, Austin, Texas, Whitney and Payton Pavlicek, Tuscon, AZ; great-grandchildren, Beckam, Gavin and Rowan Richards, and Sophie Funk.
