Emma Specht, 94, Gladstone died Friday, March 27, 2009 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Emma’s funeral service HAS BEEN CHANGED to 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at LADBURY FUNERAL SERVICE with Rev. Lynn E. Marshall officiating. Interment will take place at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Emma Hausauer was born August 11, 1914 south of Golden Valley to Jacob and Maria (Trefz) Hausauer. She was raised and educated in the Golden Valley area.
Emma married John Specht on January 8, 1937. After numerous moves throughout the years they moved to Gladstone in September of 1964 where she has resided until moving to the St. Luke’s Home on March 11, 2009. Emma raised seven children, enjoyed gardening, planting trees and flowers. She loved sitting outside on her swing watching the birds.
Emma was a member of Gladstone Senior Citizens and Taylor Lutheran Church. She worked numerous jobs while living in Gladstone. She worked with Community Action as a Green Thumb volunteer and at Home on the Range Thrift Store. Emma’s retirement happened when she was 85.
Emma is survived by six children, Pearl Binder, Bismarck, Phyllis (Don) Stroh, Dickinson, Carolyn DeWall, Gladstone, Rolland (Irene) Specht, Billings, Mont., Ed (Norma) Specht, Alvarado, Texas, and Mavis (Arnie) Kainz, Dickinson; son-in-law, Dennis Lang, Denton, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; daughter, Shirley Lang; son-in-law, Harold Binder; two brothers; and three sisters.
