Eric Morel, 59, Dickinson, died on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. Eric’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Rev. Lisa Lewton as officiant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Per Eric’s wishes cremation will take place following his service.
Eric Morel was born June 6, 1965, the son of George and Marie (Rebel) Morel. He was raised south of Dickinson and educated in New England, having graduated from New England Public School in 1983.
Eric was united in marriage to Carla Hewson on August 29, 1985 at the United Methodist Church in Dickinson. They made their home in Dickinson where Eric began working in the oilfield. He went on to work as a jeweler/goldsmith for Rustand Jewelry in Dickinson and later as an independent, working for several stores. Earlier this year, Eric retired due to health complications from an accident he had 30 years ago.
He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycle, and he especially loved being a grandpa “Papa”. He belonged to the SBMC, and previously to the Roughrider Archery Club.
Eric is survived by his wife, Carla; children, Greg (Shantel) Morel, Dickinson, April (Cody) Gress, Dickinson, and Levi (fiancée, Abby Grein) Morel, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Bently Morel, Emily Gress, Roy Gress, Nevada Morel, Cameron Morel, and Isla Gress; siblings, Dennis Morel, LaVon Zelfer, Gary (Bonnie) Morel, Charles (Kristin) Morel, Lora (Harry) Globstad; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Curtis; and nephew, Dwight.
