Erna Mae Ackerman, 86, Dickinson, died Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. There will be a private immediate family funeral service at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. There will be public visitation on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
Erna Mae Rougutt was born on August 5, 1935 in Mobridge, SD, the daughter of Mike and Pauline (Fergain) Rougutt. She was raised and educated in the Mobridge area.
Erna worked at the Serino Café in Mobridge for a while prior to her marriage to Marvin Ackerman. This union was held on August 27,1955 in Mobridge. She had traveled with her husband during his stay in the military.
The Ackermans moved to New England in 1958 and to Dickinson in 1960. Erna had provided home child care for years. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran and Our Saviors Lutheran Churches. She enjoyed camping and fishing, but especially the time that was spent with her family.
Erna is survived by her two daughters, Natalie Hondl and Nancy (Keith) Lantz, Dickinson; two sons, Douglas (Jackie) Ackerman, Harwood and David Ackerman, Bismarck; three grandchildren, Brooks Hondl, Chelsey Lantz and Misty Tomchuk; two great-grandchildren, Trenton Francis and scar Francis; and one sister-in-law, Cora Rougutt, Casper, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin on March 14, 2009; parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
