Ernest L. Moore, 71, Taylor, ND, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Ernie’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Immanuel Church of Taylor with Rev. Lynn Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at the Taylor Cemetery with military honors provided by the Taylor VFW Post. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a prayer service at 7 p.m.. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Ernest Louis Moore was born February 25, 1936 on the family farmstead southeast of Gladstone, ND, the son of Lloyd and Irma (Weber) Moore. He was raised and educated in the Gladstone area having attended Gladstone public schools.
Ernie worked as a farm hand prior to joining the United States Navy at the age of 17 years. He served in the Navy from 1954 to his honorable discharge in 1958. He returned to North Dakota where he married Doris Ann Bloom on November 26, 1959 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Taylor. Ernie began a career as a heavy equipment operator and continued working until retirement in 2002.
In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, butchering, entertaining the children, fishing and hunting.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Doris; their four children, Ernie, Jr. (Theresa) Moore, Taylor, Vicky (Allen) Tormaschy, Taylor, Kenny (Monica) Moore, Richardton, and Carla (Greg) Kimmell, Billings, MT; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jesse (Marlene) Moore, Worland, WY; and two sisters, Beverly (Marlin) Coleman, Baldwin, ND, and Sharon Moore, Falls Church, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson-in-law, Jeremy Buckman.
