Ervin H. Heidecker, 87, died Saturday, March 29, 2025 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Ervin’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Dennis Schafer as celebrant. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. CT, Friday, April 4, 2025 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary & Vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Ervin H. Heidecker was born June 10, 1937, in Taylor, the son of Joseph T. and Mary Ann (Schmidt) Heidecker. He grew up on the farm near Lefor and attended school in Taylor. Ervin served in the United States Army from November 16, 1960 to November 7, 1962.

Ervin was united in marriage to Florence L. Heilman on September 14, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. During his life, he had worked at Stockman’s; as a heavy equipment operator for Candee Construction; and at Coteau in Beulah.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony’s Club, and the 7th Cavalry Horse Club. Ervin enjoyed horses and training horses to ride and drive.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter, Michelle (Arthur) Vega, Winchester, CA; daughter-in-law, Autumn Heidecker, Strawberry, CA; four grandchildren, Darian Vega, Ashton (Kayla) Vega, Briana (Cris) Mendivil, and Augustus Heidecker; one great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Mendivil; siblings, Louis (Wilma) Heidecker, Tucson, AZ, Stanley (Bonnie) Heidecker, Dickinson, Julie Olsen, Lochbuie, CO, and Clayton (Kathy) Heidecker, Deadwood, SD; and sister-in-law, Barb Heidecker.

He was preceded in death by his son, Darryl Heidecker; his parents; siblings, Ernest (Kathleen) Heidecker, Virgil (Angie) Heidecker, and Margie (Jack) Willis; and brother-in-law, Richard Olsen.
