Estelle Frances Tachenko, 96, died Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Missouri Slope in Bismarck, ND. Family Graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Grassy Butte Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
Estelle was born August 5, 1923 on a farm near Gackle, ND to August G. and Katie (Schroeder) Lang. After completing high school at Sheyenne River Academy in Harvey, ND, she became a Registered Nurse, graduating from Hinsdale Sanitarium and Hospital in Hinsdale, Ill. in September 1945.
Estelle married Lonny Tachenko on June 30, 1947 in Hollywood, CA where she was working as a nurse. In 1949, they moved to a ranch in the Fairfield area which was their home until 2005 when they moved to Dickinson, ND and in 2013 to Bismarck, ND. While living on the ranch, Estelle commuted to Dickinson where she worked as a RN at St. Benedict’s Nursing Home for 25 years. They belonged to the Grassy Butte Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Estelle is survived by her daughters, Lonna Milburn (Mike), Brookville, MD and Brenda Tachenko (Ervin Lantz), Mandan, ND; son-in-law, Roger Olofson, Rapid City, SD; four grandchildren, Tess Olofson-Custard (Nathan), South St. Paul, MN, Estee Avalos (Jonathan), Dickinson, ND, Laine Milburn, Brookville, MD and Chantel Williams (Colten), Mandan, ND; two step-grandchildren, Ben and Kyle Lantz, Dickinson, ND; five great-grandchildren, Sophia and Abel Williams, Hazel and Maisie Custard, and Kennedee Martin; and brother, Stanley Lang, Burnet, TX.
Estelle was preceded in death by her husband, Lonny, on June 19, 2016; her sister, Lorraine Wolff; her parents; and her Tachenko brothers and sisters-in-law.
