Eugene J. Wilk, 71, Dickinson, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home. Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family will take place at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Paragon Bowling Alley.

Eugene J. Wilk was born March 30, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Joseph and Ann (Wagner) Wilk. He was raised and educated in Tucson, Ariz.

Eugene worked as a roofer throughout his life. He married Sherry Nickerson in 1962 in Tucson, and in 1966 they moved to Denver, Colo. He was united in marriage to Donna Klute in 1967 in Denver, and in 1969 they moved to Orange County, Calif., and then to Amarillo, Texas in 1974. He began following the storms and would be able to do storm roofing.

Eugene married Jeanne Wheeler on September 6, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada and together they followed the storms and worked together roofing. Jeanne and Eugene moved to Dickinson in 1989 and have made their home here since. He retired in 2008.

He enjoyed spending time at the Paragon, developing many good friendships, visiting, playing golf, and going fishing.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Jeanne; seven children, Julia (Richard) Burton, Denver, Colo., Scott Wilk, Denver, Colo., Steve (Cindy) Wilk, Denver, Colo. Joseph Wilk, Pueblo, Colo., Nathan (Kim) Wilk, Pueblo, Colo., and Nicholas (Bobbi) Wilk, Amarillo, Texas; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Jason.
