Eva Nuss, 92, Dickinson, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Evergreen Inn, Dickinson. Eva’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.

Eva Engelhardt was born November 4, 1916 in Dickinson the daughter of Alex and Emma (Kuntz) Engelhardt. She was raised and educated in Dickinson.

Eva married Alex Nuss on September 19, 1939 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. They made their home in Dickinson where she did cooking for weddings, funerals and other special occasions. When she retired in the late 1960’s, Eva was the head cook for St. Patrick’s grade school. Her early retirement was due to her need of taking care of her husband suffering from Parkinson’s. Alex died November 19, 1982.

Eva was a charter member of the St. Anne’s Auxiliary at St. Joseph’s, a Christian Mother and also a Catholic Daughter. She enjoyed visiting, playing cards, dominos and crocheting.

Eva is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Larry) Magelky and Sharon Schmitt, Dickinson; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Emily Dukart; one granddaughter, Lorie Ann Magelky; four brothers, Frank, Jacob, Edward and Roy Engelhardt; and one son-in-law, L. David Schmitt.
