Eva Hauck was born May 19, 1920 on the family farm in Dunn County to John and Christina (Schneider) Hauck. She attended farm school through the 8th grade, and then attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Richardton. She boarded by the nuns and worked NYA to pay for school. After graduation she moved back to the family farm to help with chores and did bookkeeping for the county supervisor.

Eva married Julius Zimmerman on June 3, 1941. Together they farmed until 1976 when they moved to Dickinson. Eva had a strong faith in God and passed that on to her family. Her husband and children were most important to her. Eva was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton and was a member of the Christian Mothers for 50 plus years, and the Catholic Daughters Society. In 1976, she joined St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson, and the Christian Mothers and St. Ann’s Society.

Eva loved gardening and canning, sharing her produce with family, friends and neighbors. She always had beautiful flower gardens around her house. She also loved playing cards, bowling, sewing, crocheting, quilting, cooking and baking, and working on crafts. All of her children and grandchildren have quilts and afghans made with love.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family and cook for them. She will truly be missed by her family and many friends. Grateful for having shared her life, Eva is survived by her children, John (Linda), Phoenix, Ariz., Gene (Lil), Bismarck, Sylvia (Gene) Ackerman, Phoenix, Larry, Glendale, Ariz., and Julian (Char), Richardton; grandchildren, Dale (Melodie) Zimmerman, Shari (Gary) Hardwick, Staci Miles, Kim (Scott) Klein, Brian Zimmerman and Keith Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Nicolette Zimmerman, Danielle Zimmerman, Tyler Miles, Taylor Hardwick, Shelby Miles, Eric Klein, Derek Zimmerman, MacKenzie Hardwick, Kayla Klein, Bella Zimmerman and Alexis Klein; great, great-grandson, Easton Zimmerman; sisters, Cecilia Frederick, Elizabeth Hammon and Lorraine Doll; brother, Clement Hauck; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Lantz.
