Evangeline I. Streitz, 98, Dickinson, formerly of Wibaux, Mont., died Friday, October 8, 2010 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Evangeline’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at St. Phillips Catholic Church, south of Wibaux, Mont., with Fr. Jolly Pathiyamoola as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Evangeline Latterell was born April 6, 1912 at Sentinel Butte, the daughter of Arthur and Jesse (Fremont) Latterell. She was raised and educated in Sentinel Butte.

Evangeline married Joseph Streitz on May 18, 1930 in Wibaux. They made their home in Sentinel Butte until 1956, when they moved to St. Phillips where they farmed until retirement in 1980. Her husband Joseph died in April 1986, and she remained in Wibaux until 2001 when she became a resident of the Pioneer Haven in Dickinson. Evangeline then became a resident of the St. Luke’s Home in 2005.

Evangeline mainly stayed at home to care for and raise their nine children. For a period of time she did work as a cook at the hospital in Beach. She belonged to the Altar Society, loved to go dancing, playing bingo and cards, crocheting and reading.

Evangeline is survived by eight children, Joe Streitz, Jr., Dickinson, Marie Robertson, Dickinson, Irene Lange, Dickinson, Milly (Ed) Dietz, Beach, Frank (Marti) Streitz, Missouri, Teresa (Dave) Christianson, Alaska, Lawrence (Lorre) Streitz, New Jersey, and Lorraine (Mike) Boyd, Billings, Mont.; 33 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Cecelia Watembach, Wibaux, and Alice Streitz, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her son Paul in 2007; brothers, Adrian and Bob Latterell; sister, Gertrude Lewis; daughter-in-law, Sally Streitz; sons-in-law, Albert C. Berger, Delmar Robertson, and Walt Lange; and grandson, Jared Christianson.
