Florence Hagen, 85, Dickinson, ND, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Florence’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB as the celebrant. Inurnment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Reeder. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a vigil at 7 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.

Florence Braxmeier was born February 25, 1923 in Dickinson the daughter of Frederick and Edith (Freed) Braxmeier. She was raised and educated in Dickinson. Florence worked as secretary for the President of Dickinson State Teachers College where she met Vernon F. Hagen. Vernon and Florence were married in December of 1947 in Dickinson. To this union there were three children born.

The Hagen’s moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where Florence went to work as a clerk for the Federal Bankruptcy Court. She and her husband retired and moved to Custer, SD where they raised horses in the Black Hills. They moved to Dickinson in 2001 where they have lived since.

Florence enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and entertaining family and friends. She always had a kind or inspirational word for others, and she loved to laugh.

Florence is survived by her son, David Hagen, Colorado Springs Colo.; three grandchildren, Aric Thorstad, Tara Collins and James Hagen; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon on March 24, 2007; two daughters, Laurel Thorstad and Kathy Hagen; her sisters, Elizabeth Davis, Pauline Derouin, Marie Berger, Eleanor Braxmeier and Margaret Elmquist; and one brother, Frank Braxmeier.
