She was one of five children born to this union and attended the Porter School for her elementary education. From there she went to the Model High School in Dickinson for one year and then furthering her education by attending Fryburg High School, graduating in 1935.
That fall she married Bert LeDoux on September 11, 1935 in Belfield. The LeDoux’s were very conscious of saving so they would put $5.00 from each pay check into a postal savings bond, and Florence stated “those savings are what has allowed me to live the lifestyle I do today.” They had lived in Portland, Ore. For a period of time where they worked in the shipyards. They returned from Oregon and Florence kept busy being a mother and making a home. She later went to work as a cook at the Belfield Public School and the Painted Canyon. She also worked at Brownfield’s Store and Mrs. Kokkler’s Drug Store before going to work for the United States Post Office for 20 years, retiring in 1978.
Since her retirement she has been actively involved in the Senior Center and also the County and Regional Council on Aging. She loved to work on crafts, anything from making quilts to pictures made from all the tiny parts from old watches. One of her Christmas ornaments, made from a milk pod with kissing angels in the middle, was chosen to hang on the ND Christmas Tree in Washington, DC. She also loved to play cards, travel and word puzzles.
Prior to becoming a resident of St. Benedict’s Health Center, she was a resident of the Evergreen.
