Florence Schmidt, 86, Dickinson, formerly of Manning, died on Monday, December 12, 2022 at her home. Florenceās Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Interment will take place at the Killdeer Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Florence V. Schmidt, daughter of John and Caroline (Wolk) Hartman was born on September 20, 1936. She grew up on the family farm in rural Dunn County, where she attended country school.
On September 20,1956, she was united in marriage to Ralph Schmidt at St. Edwards Church in Fayette. Florence and Ralph lived on their family farm for 37 years and raised nine children. On April 1, 1994 they retired and moved to Dickinson.
She enjoyed gardening and canning, tending to her farm animals, playing accordion and organ, and listening to polkas.
Florence is survived by her children, Curt (special friend, Kim) Schmidt, Huntley, MT, Ron Schmidt, Dickinson, Cheryl Schmidt, Grassy Butte, Jeff (Shelley) Schmidt, Manning, Ken Schmidt, Killdeer, Randy (Rene) Schmidt, Dickinson, Marc (Ione) Schmidt, Killdeer, Deanne (Jon) Zabolotny, Bismarck, and Jason (Nicole) Schmidt, Laurel, MT; grandchildren, Chelsea (Tyler) Modlin, Charity Schmidt, Brad (Holly) Schmidt, Amanda (Les) Knudsvig, Raquel Schmidt, Jessie (Randy) Pierce, Jackie (Jake) Jenkin, Mariah Zabolotny, Kailee Zabolotny, Brandyn Schmidt, Bailey Schmidt, and Brody Schmidt; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy Hartman, Dickinson and Paul Hartman, Billings, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on June 3, 1997; her parents; siblings, Leo, Jerry, Irene, Frances (twin sister), and Caroline.
