Frances M. Schmidt, 81, Dickinson, died Thursday, August 10, 2017 surrounded by family at her home. Services for Frances will be at 3 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Ron Keller presiding. Cremation will follow the service, with Inurnment at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Frances M. Privratsky was born December 14, 1935, Dickinson, daughter of Anton and Kathrine (Trinka) Privratsky. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School.

On June 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert S. “Schmitty” Schmidt. She worked as a receptionist and secretary throughout her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, spending time with her grandchildren, doing crafts, playing bingo, especially loved Christmas time, going to the casinos, camping and fishing.

Francis is survived by her children, Patti (Darrell) Tooley, Dickinson, and Tom (Joy) Schmidt, Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Chad (Rosalia) Schmidt, Bo Schmidt, Bridgette Schmidt, Shane (Sarah) Steckler, Nickie Steckler, Laura Baggatta and Jennifer Baggatta; nine great-grandchildren; and very special friends and caregivers, Kim, James and Michelle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on February 10, 2016; her parents; and nine siblings, Wenzel, George, Eddie, Charles, Bobby, Emma Weisgerber, Blanche Kovash, Pat Anderson and Margaret Neighbor.
