Frank J. Praus, 80, Dickinson, died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital, Mandan. Frank’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding. Interment will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, military honors will be provided by the Dickinson Honors Team following the service. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will continue on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to service time at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Frank Jerome Praus was born May 17, 1933 in Dickinson, the son of Julius and Mary (Huschka) Praus. He was raised and educated in Dickinson. Frank served honorably in the United States Army from March 4, 1952 to December 9, 1952.

Frank married Donna Berger and to this union five children were born. He later was united in marriage to Eugenia Messer and to this union three children were born.

Throughout his life he worked various jobs, such as, truck driving, in the oil patch, and heavy equipment operator, but his true passion was his music.

He belonged to the American Legion. He enjoyed working on puzzles, and the companionship of his dog, Lady. The past couple of years he enjoyed making trips out to the ranch where he would check on the cattle and the hay crop.

Frank is survived by his wife, Eugenia; seven children, Bob Praus, Bismarck, Willard Praus, Bismarck, Janice (John) Jung, Mandan, Margaret (Remi) Messer, Bismarck, Mark (Bernie) Praus, Bismarck, Connie (Roger) Kubischta, Dickinson, and Cary (Bev) Praus, Lefor; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Anna Dukart, Grand Forks, Clementina (Ulric) Ficek, Glendive, Mont., and Rose Praus, Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis on November 6, 1999; his parents; seven siblings, Jerome, Tony, Vincent, Louie, Katie, Mary, and Agnes; and one infant sister, Margaret.
