Frank J. Sickler, 81, Dickinson, died Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Frank’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Frank J. Sickler was born December 3, 1929, at Dickinson, the son of John and Thresa (Heinstein) Sickler. He was raised and educated north east of Dickinson in Dunn County, having attended a country school.

He married Janet Rohr on September 26, 1950 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone. Together they farmed and raised their family north east of Dickinson in Dunn County. They moved into Dickinson in 1994, and over the next several years he would make many trips out to the farm.

He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed old time music, attending rodeos, gardening and working in his yard, and in his younger years, flying. Family was important to Frank and he especially cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his wife, Janet; their five children, Sharon (Ray) Wanner, Dickinson, Sandy (Steve) Meyer, Watford City, John (Karen) Sickler, Gladstone, Renee (Brian) Hoffman, Las Vegas, Nev., and Ronda Brenneise, Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Brian (Tyra) Wanner, Brenda (special friend-Sean Everett) Wanner, Brent (Audrey) Meyer, Jeff (fiancée-Sandra Verastegui) Meyer, Jason Sickler, Justin (Dena) Sickler, Megan (fiancé-Justin Berger) Sickler, Tyler (fiancée-Meridith Lanham) Hoffman, Jared (fiancée-Katie Hoover) Hoffman, Chad (Andrea) Brenneise and Nicole (Chase) Larson; two great-granddaughters, Avery and Aftan Wanner; and one sister-in-law, Irene Sickler, Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, George and John.
