Frank L. Walter, 82, passed peacefully from this life on March 26, 2011, at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson, North Dakota after a brief stay at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Viewing will be at the Ladbury Funeral Service on Tuesday, March 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., followed by a Prayer and Memories Service for family and friends at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be at the Evangelical Bible Church, 2891 5th Avenue W, in Dickinson on Wednesday, March 30, at 10:30 A.M., with The Reverend Tim Privratsky officiating. Burial will take place later this spring.

Frank was born at the family home March 19, 1929, to Shannon and Daisy Walter in Williams County, ND. He attended country school in Sanish and Charleston. He also attended school in Williston, ND. He and Marjorie Kamp were married in 1951. The same year, he joined the National Guard. He and his bride moved to Enterprise, Alabama, where he was stationed at Camp Rucker. After Frank was discharged, they returned to North Dakota. Frank held employment working for Amerada; then on drilling rigs: as a production supervisor for Gofor Oil; and as a petroleum technician for the Bureau of Land Management in Wyoming and North Dakota. He retired from the BLM at the age of 71. He was a member of the Portal Masonic Lodge and the Evangelical Bible Church.

Frank was a “jack of all trades” and shared his abilities with his family and friends. Throughout his life, Frank enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially liked the times grandchildren came to visit. The whole family enjoyed sharing special times at Grandpa and Grandma’s place.

Frank is survived by his wife, Marjorie, his faithful companion of nearly 60 years; 3 sons–Barry Walter (Barbara) of Huntsville, Texas, Dan Walter (Shawn) of Williston, North Dakota, Scott Walter (Lynn) of Gill, Colorado, and 1 daughter–Renee’ Hogan (Brian) of Bismarck, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
