Frank Roll, 86, Dickinson, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at his home. Frank’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Jeff Zwack as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Frank Roll was born October 28, 1923 in Burt, the son of John and Caroline (Reichert) Roll. He was raised and educated in rural Burt. Frank was farming seven miles north of Burt when he married Anna M. Meier on September 16, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lemmon, S.D. They continued to farm until the spring of 1958 when they moved into Dickinson. Frank purchased the Texaco station and operated it as Roll’s Texaco. In 1966 they opened Roll’s Interstate Mobil and in the fall of 1972 started Roll’s Muffler Shop, retiring in 1999. Frank and Anna made Hawks Point their home on July 20, 2009.

Frank was a member of the German Hungarian Club, the Eagles, Knights of Columbus, was on the volunteer fire department, and was a member and served as an usher at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing pinochle, games on the computer, and later in life helping Anna make quilts.

Frank is survived by his wife, Anna; their six children, Diane (Clayton) Heidecker, Dickinson, Janice (Bruce) Evans, Bismarck, Thomas (Judy) Roll, Richardton, Beatrice Mueller, Bismarck, Shaun (Karla) Roll, Westminster, Colo., and Judy (Monty) Meduna, Longmont, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Jake Roll, New Castle, Wyo., and Catherine Stekar, Billings, Mont.; and two sisters-in-law, Rosie Roll, Minot, and Fran Roll, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret (Florian) Hoerner and Julia (John) Ferderer; brothers, Alex and Ted; brothers-in-law, Tony Stekar; and sister-in-law, Edna Roll.
