Frank S. Kostelecky, 91, Dickinson, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 29, 2013 in Dickinson. Frank’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Shannon Lucht as the celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary led by his sister, Frances Ridl, and vigil with Deacon Kris Ringwall presiding.

Frank, son of Stephen and Agnes (Samek) Kostelecky, was born on November 13,1921 at the family homestead 20 miles southwest of Dickinson. He attended school through grade six, not continuing on because of his help needed on the farm.

Frank married Dorothy J. Kudrna on October 25,1943, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, New Hradec. They lived on the family farm southwest of Dickinson until 1950, when they moved into New Hradec for a couple of years. In 1952, they moved to Dickinson where he has resided ever since.

Frank worked for the State of North Dakota at the Experiment Station doing various jobs and specifically Animal Husbandry from 1952 until 1986 when he retired. During his time at the experiment station, he enjoyed tending to the animals. He was a member of Queen of Peace Parish, Knights of Columbus, the Eagle’s Club and Catholic Workmen. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing and horseshoes. In recent years, Frank enjoyed the company of others playing cards or taking the bus to the casino. He also enjoyed watching Mollie B polka time with his friend Margaret. In his younger years he enjoyed dancing especially polkas and waltzes.

Frank is survived by his children, Darlene (Chuck) Willer, Dickinson, Glenn (Claudia) Kostelecky, Custer, S.D., Michaela “Mickie” (Joel) Haich, Dickinson; 10 grandchildren, LaDene (John) Prince, Sheila (Paul) Schwanke, Wendy (Earl) Schwartz, Traci (Scott) Sand, Terry (Becky) Kadrmas, CJ (Sarah) Haich, Christa (Mike) Mundy, Catie (fiancé Will Freiberg) Haich, Allison Kostelecky and Matthew Kostelecky; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Ridl, Dickinson; sister-in-law, Mildred Kostelecky, Dickinson; and his dear friend Margaret Steffan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy on January 9, 2003; one daughter, Diane Kadrmas; one grandson, Wesley Willer; five brothers; and four sisters. He will be dearly missed by us all.
