Fred Sitter, 90, Richardton, ND, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Fred’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Richardton American Legion, Theo. R. Zech Post #180. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m..
Fred Sitter was born September 19, 1917 at Richardton, ND, the son of Valentine and Rosalia (Schneider) Sitter. He was raised in the Richardton area having attended rural school. Fred served in the United States Army from February 7, 1942 to his Honorable Discharge on April 5, 1945.
Fred married Mary F. Stulc on June 6, 1959 in Winifred, MT. They lived on the original farm homesteaded by Fred’s father Valentine Sitter. Fred has been active in farming his entire life, something that he truly loved to do. Mary died September 5, 1998.
Fred is survived by his son, Raymond Sitter, Richardton; one sister, Christine Rousseau, Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers, Mike, Sebastian, Nick and John, and three sisters, Barbara Commes, Theresa Sitter and Mary Halter.
