George Vrana, 76, Dickinson, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center. Abiding by the families wishes, George was cremated and there will be no formal services held.
George Vrana was born April 19, 1936, in Dickinson, the son of Joseph and Antonia (Hradec) Vrana. He was raised and educated north east of Dickinson, where he attended country school. George entered the United States Army and served honorably from July 7, 1955 to April 15, 1957 when he was honorably discharged.
He returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Monica Wanner on October 15, 1959 in Dickinson. George worked throughout his life as a mechanic with construction crews and also at the gasification plant.
George enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, the Lucas Oil Drag Racing, listening to music, making casino runs, his special friendship with Don Senescall and his family, and especially spending time with his family.
George is survived by his wife, Monica; daughter, Tyrene “Tyger” (Doug) Sarsland, Dickinson; grandchildren; Danielle (Andy) Salo, and Derek Ott; great-grandchildren, Madison Salo and Landon Ott; brother, Ed (Thelma) Vrana, Upton, Wyo.; brother-in-law, Joe D. (Linda) Wanner, Gladstone; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin (Delphine) Vrana; and sister, Virginia Carstens.
