Georgene “Jean” Hilda Novotny, 78, Dickinson, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at her home. Jean’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Lighthouse Church of God, Dickinson with Pastor Erich Lacks officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson.
Georgene “Jean” Hilda Geotz was born on March 2, 1945 in Montana, the daughter of Anne Geotz and George Krank. Jean was raised and educated in Richardton with her grandparents. She met Hank Novotny in 1965 and they were married in September 26, 1966 in Richardton.
She was a cook and baker in various restaurants and cafés in Dickinson such as Lisko’s, Leis Truckstop, Husky’s Café, Ivanhoe Inn, Paragon Bowl and Frankie’s/Superpumper until she was not able to work until about a year ago in October.
Jean was a wonderful wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She liked to do needlepoint, cook, bake, and play cards. She loved to go fishing on Lake Sakakawea and at Camel’s Hump.
Jean is survived by her sons, Marcellus Novotny, Dickinson and Shawn (Amy Hutzenbiler) Novotny, Dickinson; four grandchildren, Anthony Novotny, Christopher Novotny, Trinity Friesz, and Konnar Hutzenbiler; and four great-grandchildren, Phoenix Novotny, Amira Novotny, Godric Novotny, and Niklaus Novotny.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank, on September 6, 2013; her grandparents; her parents; step-father, Eli Quesenberry; and numerous other relatives.
