Gladys Lacher, 80, Dickinson, formerly of Richardton, died Friday, February 28, 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Bismarck. Glady’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Robert Bohn. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Gladys Scholz was born September 8, 1939 in Stark County, the daughter of William Scholz and Cathryn (Streitmatter) Scholz. When Gladys was four years old the family moved to a farm south of Richardton. She attended country school and St. Mary’s High School in Richardton.
On June 25, 1956, she married Gordon Lacher at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, south of Richardton. Following their marriage, they farmed south of Richardton for the next 39 years. They retired and moved to Richardton in 1995. Gladys became a resident of Park Ave Villa in 2017.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Richardton Senior Citizens. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.
Gladys is survived by seven children, Steve (Clara) Lacher, Bismarck, Kathy (John) Schmidt, Windsor, Colo., Brenda (Jeff) Marthaller, Dickinson, Jo Carol (Kevin) Guthrie, Dickinson, Cary (Marilyn) Lacher, Richardton, William (Dianne) Lacher, Green River, Wyo., and Helen Rebel, Dickinson; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mylo Unruh, Westminster, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, in 2004; son, Darel in 1981; granddaughter, Jenna Lee Lacher; and brother-in-law, Dale Unruh.
