Gladys Melchior, 91, formerly of Richardton, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Sanford Health Bismarck. A Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Gladys was born December 29, 1928, in rural Richardton, the daughter of John and Florence (Fleck) Hoff. She was raised and educated in the Richardton area. She married Marcel Melchior on January 7, 1947 in Richardton. Together they farmed until 1988 when they moved into Richardton. Before moving to Bismarck in 2010 Gladys worked the Richardton Health Center for 20+ years in the laundry department.

Gladys was a 71 year member of Christian Mothers, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the local homemakers club. She helped out at the Social Center functions. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, baking, and fishing at their lake cabin.

Gladys is survived by her sister Geri (Harvey) Baer, Richardton; two sisters-in-law; Irene Hoff, Richardton, and Della Forster, Bismarck; five children, Eileen (Alan) Hilton, San Tan Valley, AZ; Dan (Kathy) Melchior, Littleton, CO; Richard (Linda) Melchior; Bismarck, ND; Jeff (Vicki) Melchior, Fargo, ND; and Reiny (Kelly) Melchior, Littleton, CO; 15 grandchildren: Jeff Deboo, LaPalma, CA.; Tim (Amy) Melchior, Littleton, CO; Ryan Melchior (Emilee), Parker, CO; Nate (Brooks) Melchior; Littleton, CO; Kimberly Melchior (Austin Trent), Littleton, CO; Jackie (Steve) Weinberger, Breien, ND; Amy (Jeremy) Westman, Bismarck,ND; Kelly (Kira) Melchior; Bismarck, ND; Tyler (Heather) Melchior; Brighton, CO; Holly (Nate) Hurtado; Highlands Ranch, CO; Kelsey Warden, Littleton, CO; Alex Farmer, Littleton, CO; Landon Melchior; Norwalk, CT; Emily Melchior, Rochester, MN; Jordan Melchior, Fargo, ND; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Florence Hoff; her husband, Marcel; sisters Rose, Agnes, Clara, Lorraine and Mary; brothers Jake, Leonard, and John; one grandson, Mike DeBoo.
