Grace Katherine Dukart, age 84, of Dickinson, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion for family. Grace’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Dennis Schafer as celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Bob Stockert as presider. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Grace was born on July 21, 1942, in Dickinson, to John and Eva (Krug) Tormaschy. At the age of five, the family moved to Gladstone where she grew up on a picturesque farm, situated along the Heart River near Gladstone. She attended grade school and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1960. She then attended Capital Commercial College in Bismarck, before moving to Dickinson, the community she would always call home.
On February 23, 1963, Grace married John A. Dukart. Together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, hard work, and caring for others. Their home was filled with laughter, love, and the busy joy that comes from raising five children.
Grace had a strong work ethic and quiet determination that carried through every part of her life. Her working career began at Northwestern Bell in 1969 as a telephone operator for 10 years. In May of 1984, Grace was employed by MDU, where she retired in June of 2009 with 25 years of service.
She was a talented and creative woman who found great joy in sewing, embroidery, baking, counted cross-stitch, bowling, bingo, and playing cards. She was especially gifted with a needle and thread, and among the many things she lovingly made were a suit jacket for John and knitted him a sweater as well. She also made sure that every member of her family received a set of her beautifully embroidered dish towels—a special gift that reflected her thoughtfulness and love. Grace was a proud member of the Club of ’51 Homemakers.
Grace is survived by her husband, John; children, Joshua, Jada (Steve) Tice, Justin, and Jarett; grandchildren, Brandon (Kayla) Dukart, Shaun Samson, Brittani (Zach) Hepperle, Brook Angell, Chasity Monroe, Tyler Dukart, Cody Dukart, Justin (Shannon) Biel, Caitlin Klein (Dukart), Nikki Johnson; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda (Larry) Urbanec; sister-in-law, Jenny Tormaschy; and brother-in-law, Michael Marczuk.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jovian; parents, John and Eva; sisters, Pauline (Jack) Dobson, Evelyn Marczuk; brother, Albert Tormaschy; and grandson-in-law, Brandon Angell.
