Grace L. Johnson, 91, Belfield, was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Grace’s memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Jim Steckler officiating. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Belfield Lutheran Cemetery, Belfield.

Grace was born January 6, 1923 to Tom and Jane (Robinson) Simpson at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Grace came to the United States in 1960. She married Leonard Johnson at Watford City. Together they owned and operated the Bel Vu Motel in Belfield from 1966 until 1972. In 1972 they moved to Dickinson but returned to Belfield in 1995.

In 1985, Leonard and Grace began spending winters in Texas. Grace was a member of the Belfield Senior Center where she loved to shoot pool. In 2011 Grace moved to Golden Valley Manor, Beach and in 2012 she moved to St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.

Grace is survived by four daughters; Lois (Joe) Smith, Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada, Merle Gratz, Dickinson, Audrey (Dave) Kuntz, Belfield, and Barbara (Ralph) Froehlich, Dickinson; one brother, Jim Simpson, Old Castle, Ontario, Canada; one sister, Irene Cooksley, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard, one brother, Ed, one sister, Ruth Bower, one grandson, Barry Reiss, and one great-grandson, Trevor Froehlich. In Grace’s walk with the Lord she was always thankful for opportunities to share the Lord’s love through prayer, video tapes, and Ann Landers snippets.
