Harry J. Stroh, 80, Dickinson, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Harry’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary & vigil at 5 p.m., with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding.
Harry J. Stroh was born June 9, 1932 at home on the farm near Manning, the son of Jacob Karl Stroh & Magdalene (Schwindt) Stroh. He completed his education to the 7th grade in a country one room school house. On May 29, 1952 Harry married Clementine Dukart at St. Pius Catholic Church in Sheffield.
After Harry & Clem were married they made their home with his parents until September 1952 when his parents retired and moved to Dickinson. Harry ran the farm where they milked cows for 21 years and raised beef cattle. Harry worked for the Dunn County Road Department part time plowing snow in 1956 and later started working full time for Dunn County where he graded roads during the spring and summer and plowed snow in the winter. Harry retired in April 2001 from Dunn County after 28 years of service. He started working at Stockmen’s Livestock after retirement where he ran the gate (after the cattle were sold in the auction ring) at the livestock market until April 2010. Harry loved to visit on a daily basis his card buddies at Stockman’s Livestock to take his turn at either winning or losing a dollar at the card game Larry. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, and playing other card games. Harry enjoyed being on his tractor pushing snow and especially enjoyed spending time with their two daughters, two sons in law and six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was a member of the Manning Community Club and Dickinson St. Anthony Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Clem, two daughters, Sandy (Doug) Dukart Manning, and Michele (Russ) Froehlich, Mandan. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Derrick (Angie) Dukart, Amy (Jeremy) Norby; all of Manning, Brian (Rebeca) Dukart, Dickinson, Jacob Michael Froehlich, Birmingham, Ala., Nathan Froehlich Fargo, and Lyndsie Froehlich, Mandan; six great grandchildren; Iris, Ian & Jude Dukart, Faith, Tate & Clover Norby all of Manning; two sisters, Caroline (Frank) Kuntz, Dickinson, Regina (Simon) Wanner, Mandan; and one brother, Gary (Joyce) Stroh, Albany, Ore. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, four sisters, and his infant twin brother.
