Harvey H. Herberholz, 84, New England, the Lord and his guardian angel took him on August 9 to be with our Heavenly Father. He peacefully passed away at West River Medical Center, Hettinger. Harvey’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Dennis Schafer as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 pm. at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Victor Dvorak presiding.

Harvey was born on September 18, 1936 in New England, the son of Mathias and Catherine (Schulz) Herberholz. He was raised and educated in New England, having graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1954. Following graduation, Harvey worked with his father and as a mechanic in a local business in New England.

Harvey was united in marriage to Victoria Steier on October 7, 1957 at St. Pius Catholic Church, Schefield. They farmed and ranched northeast of New England throughout their life. He drove school bus for 30 years for the New England school district and he also worked for Jim Erickson, a local farmer, as a hired man for 18 years.

He was a member and served on many organizations:  New England Saddle Club, Clark Township Board, New England St. Mary’s Catholic School Board, Hettinger County Commissioner for 12 years, Hettinger County Social Service Board, SWDHU Board, and KC member. He had a love for horses, was a faithful Catholic for his family and was a devoted grandparent.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Victoria; children, Carmelita (Charles) Fisher, Sutherlin, Ore., Sidney Herberholz, Abercrombie, Harlan Herberholz, Fargo, Valery (Darlene) Herberholz, New England, and Shawn (Christie) Herberholz, Rogue River, Ore.; ten grandchildren,     Megan (Clayton) Dee, Daphne Herberholz, Heather (Mike) Plummer, Melissa (Kyle) Morrow, Amanda (Casey) Cook, Stephanie (Lucas)    Preston, Lane Herberholz, Cory (Lauren) Herberholz, Cody Herberholz and Katelyn Herberholz; six great-grandchildren; sister, Delores (Judeen) Brusseau, Dickinson; sister-in-law, Leah (Victor) Wanner; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family, Dorothy Steier, Geneva Steier, and Josephine Steier. He was preceded in death by his parents.
