Helen Brew, 86, Manning, died on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Benedictine Living Center, Dickinson. Helen’s Liturgy of Word will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Fr. Joseph Evinger presiding. Interment will take place at Killdeer Cemetery, Killdeer. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary at 7 p.m. with Deacon Dan Tuhy presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Helen Giesinger was born January 27, 1939 in Hazen, the daughter of Edward and Rose (Singer) Giesinger. She was raised and educated in Hazen, having graduated from Hazen High School. She went on to attend St. Joseph’s School of Nursing where she earned her LPN license.
Following her nursing training, Helen was united in marriage to Dale S. Brew on October 6, 1958 in Hazen. Together they farmed and ranched and raised their family near Manning. During this time, she spent a lengthy career at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In 1994, she was named Nurse of the Year.
Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, and having family gatherings. She also belonged to the Altar Society at St. Joseph’s Church, Killdeer.
Helen is survived by her children, Michael (JoAnn Marsh), Manning, Lynn (Linda), Bismarck, Blaine (Florence), Colorado Springs, CO, and Shawn, Manning; grandchildren, Adam (Susan) Strand, Wade (Sandy) Strand, Lacey (Kevin) Tuma, Lindsey (Tyler Erhardt) Brew, Andrea (Nick) Bowers, Chelsea (Kadin) Davis, Ashley (Chase) Bren, Shayly (Tom) Lydon, and Makayla Brew; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Darlene Giesinger; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, on January 5, 2008; sisters, Delores (Walter) Knell and Marvel (Oscar) Miller; brother, Lucas (Alice) Giesinger.
