Helen Lindbo, 77, Belfield, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dickinson. Helen’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Belfield Lutheran Church, with Rev. Roger Dieterle officiating. Interment will follow at Belfield Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Helen Jassek was born July 9, 1938 at home near Werner, the daughter of Mike and Margaret (Kraenzel) Jassek. She was raised and educated through the Werner school.
Helen was united in marriage to Elliot Lindbo on June 11, 1961 at St. John Evan. Lutheran Church, Dickinson. They have made Belfield their home, and throughout her life she did babysitting, waitressing, bookkeeping, and housekeeping. She also worked for Cloverdale Foods, as a Fuller Brush sales person, and as manager of the Trapper’s Kettle.
She was active in their community, helping organize the fundraiser for the Belfield swimming pool, organized and participated in the adult women’s basketball, the blood drive at the church, and Sunday School and youth church group. She was an excellent cook, and had cooked at various businesses in the area.
She was also active in the WELCA at Belfield Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Senior Citizens Club. In her spare time she loved to grow flowers, trying out new recipes, baking, watching the birds, reading, gardening and canning. She especially loved her children and grandchildren, and cherished working on picture albums for them.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew her, especially her husband, Elliot; four children, Dwight (Rynette) Lindbo, Mohave, Ariz., Barry (René) Lindbo, Redwood Falls, Minn., Durand (Sherrie) Lindbo, Helena, Mont., and Joy (Terry) Gregory, South Heart; nine grandchildren, Jenni (Pete) Tupa, David Lindbo, Thomas Lindbo, Matthew Lindbo, Kaitlynn Lindbo, Megan Lindbo, Evan Lindbo, Trystan Gregory and Ty Gregory; two great-grandchildren, Aden and Cohen Tupa; and two brothers, Joe (Ann) Jassek, Bismarck, and John Jassek, Missoula, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ann Holzer, Gertie Mittelsteadt, Tony Jassek, and Vincent Jassek; an infant son; and seven siblings lost in a house fire. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Badlands Ministry in memory of Helen.
