Herbert J. Bohlman, 83, New England, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at West River Health Services, Hettinger. Herb’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England, with Fr. Biju Chitteth as the celebrant. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military honors will follow the Mass and be provided by the New England American Legion Anton Ulijohn Post 66. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the church with a rosary & vigil at 6 p.m., and visitation will continue on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church.

Herbert J. Bohlman was born January 1, 1930 at New England, the son of Henry and Louise (Lenhardt) Bohlman. He was raised and educated in New England.

Herb joined the United States Navy and served honorably from December 9, 1948 to March 13, 1954. He returned to New England and was united in marriage to Florentine Becker on June 16, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He was always mechanically inclined and had spent his adult life with a long career at Koffler Manufacturing, retiring as shop foreman.

He belonged to the American Legion, having served as past Post Commander, the City Park Board, the City Council, the New England Bowling and Golf Associations, and the New England Fire Department.

Herb is survived by his wife, Florentine; their two children, Delton (Lisa) Bohlman, Newport, Vt., and Sue Ellen (Damon) Seamands, Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren, Kelsey Bohlman, Dylan Bohlman, Aria (Casey) Allen, Deion Seamands, and Dekon Seamands; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Camille Allen; and four siblings, Joe Bohlman, New England, Donald Bohlman, Great Falls, Mont., Elaine (Richard) Hegge, New England, and Arlene (Larry) Wanner, Glendive, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Richard, Ed, Verna and Helen.
