Irene Rohde, 91, Dickinson, died, Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Evergreen Assisted Living, Dickinson. Irene’s Memorial Service will be Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. at St. John Evan. Lutheran Church with Rev. Lisa Lewton and Rev. Joe Natwick officiating. Inurnment will take place the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Irene Mittelstadt was born November 20, 1926 to Jack and Margaret (Fettig) Mittelstadt on the farm northeast of Killdeer. She attended schools in Dunn County and graduated from Killdeer High School. Upon graduation, she worked for MDU in Killdeer.

On November 2, 1946, she married Edwin Rohde. To this union two children were born, Margaret and Marlin. Together they farmed and ranched southwest of Halliday for 39 years. In 1985, Irene moved to Beulah where she lived for ten years helping elderly with yard and house work. She moved to Dickinson’s Villard Terrace in 1996. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, sewing, dancing, visiting, volunteering and working for Elder Care for Villard Terrace’s kitchen for 20 years. She also enjoyed quilting with the ladies at St. John’s Lutheran. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

She was the first person to get peer counseling of aging in Dunn County. She was member of the Beulah Eagles Auxiliary, Beulah Senior Citizen Club, Pioneer Singers, Happy Sing Along, Hospice, RSVP, Stark County Council on Aging, St. Anthony Club, Sunset Senior Center, Region VIII Counsel on Aging, and was an Ombudsman at St. Luke’s. She served as president of Stark County Counsel on Aging and secretary of the single’s group that met at the St. Anthony Club.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Albert) Olheiser, Dickinson; son, Marlin (Sarah) Rohde, Halliday; granddaughters, Claudia (Darren) Czapiewski, Dorothy and Dasha Rohde; great-granddaughters, Lexi and Brooke Czapiewski; sister, Margery Tercek, Fremont, Calif., sisters-in-law, Beverly Mittelstadt, Ida Rohde and Mardella Rohde; her uncle, Ray Fettig; and special friend Jacob Focht and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Margaret; brother, Leonard; and special friend Herman Lauf.
