Irene Teresea Holz, 84, Dickinson, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Irene’s funeral service will be at 9 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Fr. Keith Streifel presiding. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding.
Irene Teresea Dardis was born January 7, 1928, at Killdeer, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Lang) Dardis. She graduated from Killdeer High School in 1946, and went on to attend Dickinson State Teachers College and Mankato Teachers College in Minnesota. Irene taught rural school near Grassy Butte and several years in a rural school near Austin, Minn. She had also worked at the Singer Sewing Center, Sears, Woolworth’s and Anfinson’s in Dickinson.
She enjoyed riding horse, dancing, singing and traveling. Her favorite song was “Good Night Irene”. She especially enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren.
Irene was united in marriage to Ronald Lavern Finhart on June 12, 1949 in Minnesota, and his death occurred on May 19, 1953. She was then united in marriage to Cornelius Holz on February 19, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and his death happened on October 23, 1973.
Irene is survived by her four children, Larry “Red” Finhart, Dickinson, Connie Lindbo, Dickinson, Harlan (Alletta) Holz, Spearfish, S.D., and Rita (Wayne) Wanner, Dickinson; four grandchildren, Shelly Lindbo, Brian Lindbo, Kimberly Wanner, and Kristopher Wanner; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence (Lorraine) Dardis, Center. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; one sister, Marian Olsson; infant sister, Mary Dardis; and two brothers, Michael and Thomas Dardis.
