Isabelle Roshau was born on June 29, 1927, on the family farm north of Killdeer, the daughter of Emil and Katherine (Geiger) Roshau. She was raised and educated in Killdeer, having graduated from Killdeer High School in 1946. Following high school she worked at the co-op in Killdeer, and had met Jerry Hartman thru her brother, Joe.

Isabelle and Jerome Hartman were united in marriage on October 25, 1948 in Killdeer. Following their marriage, they lived on the Karey place. Many moves were made to various places, and in the early 60’s, they purchased Jerry’s parent’s homestead, and lived there until 1979 when they built their home in Killdeer. Jerry passed away on December 4, 1999 and mom continued to live in their home until her death. Issy worked many years at Wetsch’s Jack & Jill in Killdeer and thoroughly enjoyed it.

She enjoyed yard work, reading and attending Mass. Her religion was very important to her and she was devoted to the rosary, praying it daily. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, loving each one in a very special way.

Issy is survived by three children, Jane (Garry) McMahen, Killdeer, Peggy (Jim) Longmire, Bailey, Colo., and Lori (Jeff) Binstock, South Heart; daughter-in-law, Pam Hartman, Killdeer; 10 grandchildren, Kolter Hartman, Kara Hartman, Jana Hartman-Kubik, Justin Hartman, Kristin McMahen, Steven McMahen, Adam Longmire, Scott Longmire, Brett Binstock, and Cole Binstock; five great-grandchildren, Logan McMahen, Grady Pigors, Gentry Pigors, Adalyn Hartman, and Tyce Hartman; one brother, Joe Roshau, Killdeer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; two sons, Kent and Richard; her parents; and her siblings, Ann Scheeler, Claire Roshau, Frank Roshau, Carole Gieser, Ralph Roshau, Agnes Karey, Pauline Kilwein, Linus Roshau, and Marge Urbanec.
