Jacob R. “Jake” Renner, 79, Belfield, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. Services for Jake will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Pastor Cal Oraw officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Highland Cemetery, Casper, Wyo.
Jacob R. was born on September 12, 1937 in Glen Ullin to Christ and Anna (Hoerner) Renner. He was raised on the family farm received an 8th grade education. Jake joined the Navy in 1955, received an Honorable discharged in 1958. He worked various jobs—moved to Billings Mont., where he was a mechanic and met Sandra Nading. They were married on September 18, 1965, and they had one child Ragan Marie.
They moved to Casper, Wyo., where Jake worked the oil field; owned and operated the bowling alley in Midwest Wyoming and did heavy equipment operator for various construction companies. Jake and Sandy moved to Belfield in 1997, where he continued as a heavy equipment mechanic until he retired. After retirement, he went to work for TRMF as an all around maintenance person and mechanic. He enjoyed making wood crafts: birdhouses, squirrel feeders and whirlie-gigs for his wife. He was always tinkering on something. His pride and joy of course was the restoration of his 1963 Ford Thunderbird. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends and just sitting outside watching the squirrels, rabbits and birds in his yard.
Jake is survived by his wife Sandra, Belfield; one brother, Mike Renner; two sisters, Florence Berger and Martha Marquart, all of Dickinson; son-in-law, Phil (Ming) Tillitt, Casper, Wyo.; two grandchildren, Christopher (Victoria) Tillitt and Nichole (Adam Swanson) Tillitt; three great-grandchildren, Corbin James Tillitt, Olive Marie Tillitt, and Ashlinn Ragan Swanson; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Kassi Peterson (Kris). He was preceded in death by his daughter Ragan Marie Tillitt, his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
