Jackie was born November 27, 1932 in Ihlen Village, MN. She was the fourth of eleven children born to Melvin and Laurel (Hohf) Running. Jackie was raised and educated in Pipestone, MN, where she graduated high school in 1950. She moved to Sioux City, IA where she worked and babysat for her nephew/godson. After that she moved to Wichita, KS where she met and married Airforce SSgt. Donald C. Duerre on October 10, 1953.

They moved to Dickinson in 1959 where they raised their two children. Jackie worked for the Dickinson Credit Bureau and for over 30 years at Queen City Motors – Honda West.

Jackie’s life was centered around her family, church, and good friends. She loved bowling, fishing, baking, gardening (roses), crafting, playing cards & board games, and watching baseball and football. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Jackie always remembered friends’ and families’ birthdays and anniversaries and loved sending cards. She attended any and all grandchildren’s activities when possible.

There was really nothing that Jackie was not game for. In 1967 and 1968, the Duerres went to Zambia, Africa. Safaris, wild game reserves, and visits to native tribe villages were weekly occurrences. She consented to ride a camel in Egypt and navigated the touring of Rome, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and France. Jackie loved fishing and didn’t bat an eye at journeying down the Missouri River with two other families from Montana to Williston each in their own small shallow boat with only camping gear and food.

Jackie was always very active in her church with Miriam Circle doing bake sales and bazaars, the Dickinson Lions Club and the Red Hat Society, as well as women’s and couple’s bowling teams. Jackie was a strong, caring, proud, and independent lady. She fought valiantly to stay in her home of 60 years but health issues forced her to assisted living in 2019.

Jackie is survived by her two children, Paul (Judy) Duerre, Killeen, TX and Renee (John) Lindemann, Golden Valley; one grandson, PJ Duerre (Kristie), Killeen, TX; three granddaughters, Nicole Gabel, Bismarck, Kathy (Gary) Fitterer, Bismarck, Kandie Lindemann, Hazen; ten great-grandchildren – Aaron, Hailee, & Preston Duerre, Elaina & Emma Gabel, Kanin & Kasen Fitterer, and Alexander Lindemann, Kyrah & Katie Duttenhefer; and three great-great grandchildren – Alivia, Alexis, Aria. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
