James C. “Jim” Evenson, 73, Bismarck, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at CHI St. Alexius, Bismarck. Jim’s funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Rev. Dale Nabben officiating. Interment will be at the Vang Lutheran Cemetery, Dunn Center. Visitation will be on Saturday one hour prior to services.

He was born on May 20, 1943 on his grandparent’s (John & Clara Opdahl) farm outside of Werner, to Roy and Adeline (Opdahl) Evenson.

He has one surviving sister, Yvonne Olson, and was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Delores Gaebe and Ardis Evenson; as well as his only brother, Duane Evenson. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family who loved him dearly.

He grew up on the family farm and attended school at Eagles Nest School near the farm and high school in Halliday. He was a life long member of Vang Lutheran Church.

He moved in 1977 to Bismarck to work at Century High School first as a night watchman and afterward custodian, retiring after 30 years.

His wit and sense of humor endeared him to everyone. He enjoyed playing cards, dominos and loved visiting with family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Vang Lutheran Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Memorials will be going towards the Vang Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
